Biography

Javill Byron is an accomplished risk and compliance executive, a recognized entrepreneur, and a lifelong advocate for education and growth. He currently serves as Head of Risk Management for a global fin-tech firm, where he leads efforts spanning financial crime, regulatory compliance, and operational risk in one of the industry's most fast-moving and heavily scrutinized sectors.

His fascination with business began early. At just eleven years old, growing up in the Caribbean, he approached the owner of a local car dealership and negotiated a rate to wash the cars on the lot — then recruited his childhood friends to do the work at a slightly lower rate, effectively duplicating himself and turning a profit in the process. Those humble but happy beginnings, and the lessons of a mother who raised him and taught him most of what he knows, instilled the "never quit" attitude and analytical instincts that would define his career.

Javill Byron's understanding of business deepened after meeting Dave Schwedel, a wealthy executive who, at the time, had built his success with nothing more than a high school education. His deep command of BSA/AML frameworks, sanctions programs, money-transmitter and licensing requirements, and financial-crime controls has made him a trusted leader in building and scaling compliance programs within high-growth, regulated environments — including fin-tech, payments, and digital assets.

Javill Byron is equally comfortable engaging regulators and law enforcement, managing multi-state examinations and audits, and translating complex regulatory expectations into practical, technology-first controls that keep pace with product and business growth. He works fluidly across Legal, Product, Engineering, Operations, and senior leadership, and takes pride in mentoring the next generation of compliance professionals as organizations scale.
